About the Journal

Guarracuco Sostenible, whose name honours the bird that symbolises the Eastern Plains of Colombia, is an open access, peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Corporación Universitaria del Meta - UNIMETA in Villavicencio, Colombia. It publishes research articles, reflection articles and review articles on environmental, social and economic sustainability.

The journal brings together work from different disciplines (engineering, law, economics and the social sciences) that addresses problems of sustainable development from an interdisciplinary perspective, with particular attention to the challenges and realities of the Orinoquia-Amazonia region of Colombia. This territorial emphasis is an orientation rather than a restriction: the journal welcomes research on other national and international territories whose contributions are relevant to the knowledge and practice of sustainability.

Peer review

The journal uses double-blind peer review, so the identities of authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the process. Each article is reviewed by at least two peers who specialise in the subject, and at least 80% of those who take part in the review are external to the Editorial Committee, the Scientific Committee and the publishing institution. Reviewers declare any conflict of interest before accepting a review and decline when one exists. The journal seeks institutional and geographical diversity among its reviewers as a guarantee of rigour.

Reviewing is voluntary. The journal acknowledges its reviewers through certificates, a mention in the annual acknowledgements and the recording of their activity on reviewer recognition platforms.
